Fresh Eggs in the Arcitc

Kotzebue Alaska is located about 30 miles above the Arctic Circle. We have the normal four seasons of the year but Spring and Fall are pretty short. Kotzebue is located on a peninsula, surrounded by Chukchi Sea and the Kobuk and Selawik Lakes (along with a small Lagoon). In Kotzebue we have almost NO trees, we do have a couple of imported trees in people’s yards but none that grow naturally. Kotzebue is generally windy, since we are located by the sea we get a sharp cold winter wind. We are surrounded by tundra, dense willows and ocean. Kotzebue is a great place to live, hunt, and survive.

I have been raising chickens in Kotzebue for the past three years. I love it!
